About this blog…

This blog is about typical, authentic, genuine Italian food, and the many aspects of the gastronomic traditions of Italy. It is also about helping travellers to experience the best food Italy has to offer, and Italy’s hidden food gems.

Italian cuisine is enormously varied, and not even Italians know it all, because every region, and sometimes even every town and village, has a vastly different culinary style. This is due to its history, and the fact that not only Italy didn’t exist as a country until its unification in 1861, but the different parts had developed in completely different ways, under hugely diverse influences. For example, the north western regions had had a heavy French influence, while the rest of the north was part of the Austro Hungarian Empire, and the south was under Spanish domination.

Besides, Italians are passionate about food, and love eating well and genuinely, both at home and out, so they have kept and cultivated their culinary prowess and traditions, and turned it into one of the best assets of the country, even more so than monuments and beautiful natural sceneries.

I want others to share my passion and my knowledge of the gastronomic panorama of Italy, with all its many facets: food and recipes, but also eateries, gastronomic fairs and festivals, and cooking courses.

Please feel free to comment, and if there is a topic that you want addressed in a future blog post, just email!

In conclusion,

Buon Appetito!
